I’m helping my church, Peace Lutheran Church in Chatham, raise $1,000 for something really important: saving the land and life around Lake Chad in Africa.
You might not have heard of Lake Chad, but it used to be one of the biggest lakes in the world. Over the last 60 years, it has shrunk by 90%, and that’s made life really hard for the people who live there — especially farmers, kids, and families who depend on it for water, food, and work.
But here’s the good news: people are working together to fix it. And we want to help.
Our church is taking part in the Friends of Creation Challenge with CLWR (Canadian Lutheran World Relief). We’re raising money to support an amazing project using Nature-Based Solutions — that means helping the land recover by working with nature, not against it.
This project helps:
It’s not just about the environment. It’s about hope, justice, and survival.
Every $50 helps restore an entire acre of land.
We’re trying to raise $1,000 to help restore 20 acres.
You can give any amount — it all adds up, and it all matters.
Whether you’re part of Peace Lutheran or just someone who believes in helping people and our planet, we’d love your support.
I care about nature. I care about people. And I think it’s really cool that even though I’m a kid in Canada, I can be part of something that helps people on the other side of the world.
Thanks for helping me make a difference.
